Requiem Background
From MystWiki
Kindred influence in the Bay area began in the 18th century, as members of the Lancea Sanctum followed the Spanish and the Catholic church into the area. The Sanctified continued to dominate the area into the late 19th century when members of other covenants began to establish residency as the population surged.
The Sanctified managed to retain control over the area until 1906, when they were unseated in the wake of destruction following the April 18th quake by Alfonso Ricardo Valdez y Peña. At this time, Peña was a well established Invictus Daeva though it is known that he had once been affiliated with the Sanctified as well. Along with other Invictus, Peña took advantage of the chaos following the quake to seize Praxis in a mostly peaceful manner.
As the century progressed the Kindred population of the area diversified to match the expanding population of kine, and by the late 20th century the Invictus and Sanctified, while still holding a great deal of personal power, were no longer in the majority. In 1989, Peña's long-standing Seneschal and 2nd in command Blah was killed. In an attenpt to ease political tension Peña named Talisker, a Carthain Daeva, to fill the post.
Peña's reign continued until January 2005. At this time he announced that he would be stepping down from power to persue further responsibilities within the Invictus, and that praxis would be passed to Moraga, a Ventrue member of the Carthian movement.
